 When reflecting back to this year one feeling comes to mind- and that's thankful. This semester I have learned so many things about myself. I have continued to refine my study habits all while pushing myself and my mind even further than I imagined. The last month of the pharmacology program we focused on Renal, GI, and Neoplasia. These particular areas were not originally my strong suit; however, I approached the lessons with more of an opportunity to learn and expand my mind versus feeling a sense of defeat before even beginning.      I also took the time to continue my service projects and commitments I had started at the beginning of the semester by sending Thanksgiving and Christmas cards to my senior penpals across the States. With the holidays approaching and Covid-19 ramping back up, it can be a lonely time for people who unfortunately have to be isolated away from their family.  October has been filled with every possible task and challenge one can think of.  In the beginning of October, New Orleans was in the projected path of yet another hurricane. With the uncertainty of being faced with another storm, the city of New Orleans began to prepare for the worst. One of those preparations was shipping all rescue dogs that currently lived at the SPCA to Virginia. This news was shared via social media and on the evening news. My boyfriend, Victor and I knew we had to do something to help. That next day we found ourselves at the adoption center meeting with several dogs. Our lives changed immediately when we met Kenzo- his big beautiful eyes immediately connected to mine and I knew he was the perfect fit. When speaking with staff, I was unsure of why someone could leave this beautiful dog in a shelter. The staff advised me that since the pandemic many residents have been unable to afford their pets and have had to give them away. I'm glad that I am able to...

     There's no better feeling than being able to brighten someone's day. Tulane's community service program has given me a platform and opportunity to do that on a weekly basis.  This week I had the opportunity to write to three seniors Evelyn, Dorothy, and Delma - who are currently living in a senior home in Los Gatos, California.      Due to Covid-19, many of the elderly have been fortunately protected from getting the virus by avoiding outside contact; however, with that protection it has also caused isolation. In these unfortunate times, I wanted to be able to put a smile on their face and let them know they are not alone. I understand that not being able to see love ones can be hard.  I have personally experienced that because I have not been able to spend time with my grandmother.
